Charles Milton Walter Wood changed his name unofficially to, Walter M. Wood.
As of 2003, he was still living but in failing health at 86 years old. His wife, Mary Evelyn (nee Sherwin) Wood was born 3 days before Walter on December 28, 1916 and died on November 22, 1996. They had 3 children: Frank Sherwin, Charles Milton, & Ruth Louise.
He thinks he remembers hearing that there may be some Welch in the family and that they probably came from Kentucky or Tennessee. It's suspected Kentucky since there are a number of Woods that came west in the early 1800s through there. A number also went down into Alabama and Mississippi.
When his father, Charles Milton Wood, died his mother gave the family bible to Walter's uncle, Roy Wood, who moved to California. Roy died in 1942 and it is not known what happened to the family bible.
