Personen : Kiefer Mathias "Matthew" Eduard
In 1847, Mathias "Matthew" Eduard Kiefer came to America with his parents, Ignatz and Ursula Kiefer, in 1947. The family settled in Indiana . Among their prized possessions brought to this country were plant cuttings, which produced the fruit later known as Kiefer pears and Keifer grapes.
The following year on June 5, 1848, Mathias "Matthew" Eduard Kiefer married Walburga Ell. The couple made their home in Jasper Indiana. It was here each of their 15 Children were born.
Shortly after the death of the youngest child Adelaide, Matthias Keifer moved the family to Arkansas, eventually settling in the Noland community, Hempstead County, Arkansas. Five of Mathias and Walbuga Kiefer's 15 Children (Ned, Andrew, George, Philip, and Wilhelm) are buried in St. Paul's Cemetery, Pocahontas, Randolph County, Arkansas. Therefore, one can assume these were the children who accompanied their parents to Arkansas. However, the 1910 Randolph County Directory compiled by L.F. Blandenship has Andrew listed as coming from Indiana in 1880 and Philip in 1882. These are the only two children listed in the directory.

Personen : Blank Anna
The Daily Advocate, Belleville, Ill., Oct. 24, 1932:
Mrs. Anna Brendel, 98, oldest resident in Mascoutah and one of the oldest in St. Clair county died at the Brendel homestead in Mascoutah, where she lived with her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Rist, at 12:50 this morning of complications due to the infirmities of age.
Born in Germany, Nee Anna Blank, Mrs. Brendel came to the United States in 1852 at the age of 18, settling in the vicinity of Mascoutah where she did housework. The late John Brendel, who was to be here husband, accompanied her from Germany, but they became separated after arriving in the United States and it was not until along in 1865 that Brendel, who had hired out as a farm hand near New Baden, discovered that his sweetheart was employed not far distance.
After their reunion, Mrs. Brendel, then Miss Anna Blank, was seated in the Mascoutah Catholic Church on Sunday when to her surprise banns were announced.
Mr. Brendel had arranged all matters without consulting his bride-to-be. When he called that evening to see her, he was obliged to give an account of his actions, which after being fully explained, were approved.
She and John Brendel were married at the Holy Childhood Catholic church in Mascoutah by Rev. Father Peter Rosendahl, February 27, 1865, with a Miss Haas and John G. Haas as witnesses. Following their marriage they lived on a farm west of New Baden for three years, moving then to the Peter Theobald farm four and a half miles northeast of Mascoutah where they lived for 30 years. Then they moved into what is now known as the Brendel homestead in Mascoutah where he lived until his death January 25, 1900 (?), and she until her death today.
Up until her death Mrs. Brendel retained much of her vigor and her faculties were active. Though deaf, she was in good health and was able to move about in her garden and her yard. She was able, up to a short time ago, to read her newspaper and Bible without spectacles.
Mrs. Brendel was born in Albayern (?), Germany, February 16, 1834.
She was a member of the Altar Society and the Poor Souls Association of the Holy Childhood Catholic church in Mascoutah.
Surviving her are seven children: Barbara, wife of George Reiss of Belleville, a laborer, residing at 609 Wabash avenue; George Brendel, single, residing on the farm of Ernst Moore, six miles south of Mascoutah; Mrs. Katherine Weber, of New Athens, Ill., Agnes, wife of Joe Rist, who resides with her mother in the Brendel homestead on North John street, Mascoutah; John Brendel, a miner residing in Mascoutah; Conrad Brendel, also engaged in that occupation and residing in that city; and Joe Brendel, single, a farmer employed on the Bechtold farm, two and one-half miles east of Mascoutah; 27 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 8:45 Thursday morning from the home to the Holy Childhood Catholic church, Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Weyrich officiating. Burial will be in the Mascoutah Catholic cemetery.
