WILLIAM HERBST:
William Herbst, who had been a resident of Farmington since 1917, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 1937, at the home of his son, William H. Herbst in Farmington, where he had made his home since the death of his wife in 1926. He had attained the age of 80 years 5 months 21 days. He had been in failing health for eight years but was seriously ill only two weeks and the end came peacefully at 5:15 p.m.
He was born on a farm near Doe Run, on April 25, 1857, and was a son of the late Frederick and Catherine Herbst. He was united in marriage on April 17, to Dora Caroline Grotjohn. They lived for 33 years in the Clearview community. They were the parents of five children, two daughters having preceded him in death: Minnie, in 1914 and Emma, in 1912.
He is survived by a daughter, Anna (Mrs. J. J.) Bohs of Farmington and two sons: Wm. H. Herbst of Farmington and Edward J. Herbst, who resides on the old home place east of Farmington; also a brother, Adam Herbst, nine grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, of which he was a member, conducted by the pastor, Rev. E. C. Pardieck. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. Lillian Zimmer died suddenly at her home in St. Louis, Friday, April 3, apparently of a heart attack. She had been in ill health for the past year.
She was born in East St. Louis, April 27, 1900. Her parents were Henry and Mary Allen (nee Dagner) deceased, former residents of Red Bud. One brother John Allen, and one sister, Mrs. Sadie Wolf, precede her in death, also three daughters and two sons. She was married to Arthur B. Zimmer of Doe Run, MO., who survives as do three daughters and three sons, Edna Mae Zimmer of Red Bud, Patricia Allen, St. Louis, Ruth Kamac, St. Louis, Carl E. of West Covina, California, Melvin J. of Affton, Mo., and Jerome P. of Overland, Mo. Twenty two grandchildren and two great grandchildren alsosurvive.
Mrs. Henry Menke of Red Bud is a great-granddaughter. An aunt Mina Dagner, Red Bud with whom she made her home when a young girl, also survives.
Funeral services were conducted from the Hoffmeister Chapels, 7814 South Broadway, St. Louis, Tuesday, April 7, at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. O. D. Van Horn officiated Internment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lemay, Missouri.

Her husband has been visiting her every day and says she's greatly improved and may be back home by the end of this week. Helen had open heart surgery about 10 years ago, so is familiar with hospital routine. Helen has a mother who is 92 - Stella Dulany of St. Louis. I don't know of anyone around here in their 90's, do you?"
We, the family of our dear loved one, Helen Zimmer, want to thank everyone for their presence, prayers and comforting words during the time of our grief and sorrow. Also for the beautiful flowers and all other kinness offered. A special thanks to Rev. Loyd Welch for his words of comfort. Also the James Gahr Funeral Home. God bless each and everyone.

Funeral services for Mrs. Art Zimmer, 66, were conducted July 11, 1979, at 2 p.m. in the Thiebes Chapel in Pacific with the Rev. Lloyd Welch officiating. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem.
Helen Zimmer was born December 17, 1912, at Dagren, Ill., and died July 7, 1979 at St. Louis. In 1946, she was married to Arthur B. Zimmer and for the past two years they have made thier home at Salem. Mrs. Zimmer had made her profession of faith and was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Stella Brown Dulany; two borthers, Berl and Walter; and one sister, Alma Dulany.
Survivors include her husband, Art of the home at Salem; eight children, Betty Winters, Pat Grimm, Jerry Zimmer Sr., Carl and Edna Zimmer, Pat Dunford, Melvin Zimmer, and Ruth Schuer; two brothers, Thomas and Everett; one sister, Louise Hanson; and other relatives.
She will be missed by her family, friends and by all who knew nd loved her."

Three children, one of them a 4-month-old boy whose father returned from service in the South Pacific two weeks before and saw him for the first time, were burned to death early today when fire destroyed a six-room house at 944 Lemay Ferry road, Lemay. The baby's uncle was seriously burned.
The dead:
Carl Zimmer Jr., 4 months old, son of Tech. Sgt. and Mrs. Carl Zimmer, 210 Pardella avenue, Lemay.
Geraldine Zimmer, 12, daughter of Mrs. Arthur Zimmer, 5219 Hilda avenue, Lakewood, and the boy's aunt.
Evelyn Zimmer, 9, Geraldine's sister.
The injured man, Nolan Davis, who lived at the Lemay Ferry road address, was taken to the Post Hospital at Jefferson Barracks and was later transferred to Lutheran Hospital. He suffered burns about the body. He was unable to make a statement.
Sgt. Zimmer said he, his wife, Helyn, and Mr. and Mrs. Davis had spent the evening away from the house, celebrating the announcement of peace. His sisters, Geraldine and Evelyn, were to stay all night at the Davis home and were left in charge of the baby, he said.
The four adults returned to the Davis home at about 2:30 o'clock and then decided they wanted some sandwiches. Nolan styed at home and Zimmer, his wife and Mrs. Davis, who is Mrs. Zimmer's sister, went to a sandwich shop.
When they returned an hour later, the first floor of the house was in flames, and the second appeared to be filled with smoke. Davis was trying to go up a flight of stairs inside the house to the second floor, where the children were, but was unable to _______ because of flames, Sgt. Zimmer said. Sgt. Zimmer succeeded in pulling Davis from the building but was unable to go upstairs.
The Lemay Volunteer Fire Department arrived shortly ________ Davis was removed from the house, and found flames coming from windows on both floors of the building. Mrs. Zimmer ______ firemen the children were on the second floor, but because of intense heat they were not _____ to enter the building.
After the flames were brought under control, firemen found the three children in one bedroom, Deputy Constable Delbert S_____ of Lemay township said. ___ house, a six-room frame stucco building with three rooms on each floor was virtually destroyed.
