Obituary - Prominent St. Francois County Farmer Dead:
Henry Kollmeyer, one of St. Francois County's best known and most progressive farmers, passed away about 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Mineral Area Osteopathic Hospital in Farmington. Mr. Kollmeyer suffered a heart attack on Saturday, August 23d, from which he failed to recover and his condition gradually grew worse.
Henry Kollmeyer had owned and operated the same fine farm, 5 miles east of Farmington, for 40 years. He had always been interested in dairying and until five years ago operated the Kollmeyer dairy. He generally maintained one of the largest and best dairy herds in this entire section.
In addition to his farm activities he had long been an active member of the County Farm Bureau and was a member of the Board of Directors of the St. Francois County Fair. For many years he had been an officer and active member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The past several years he had been a member of the St. Francois County Republican Central Committee from Liberty Township. His death is a distinct loss, not only to his family and loved ones, but to the entire community.
Henry Martin Kollmeyer, son of the late John J. and Elizabeth Best Kollmeyer, was born December 5, 1889, on the Kollmeyer home place east of Farmington, and passed away at the Mineral Area Osteopathic Hospital, in Farmington, Wednesday, September 10, 1952. Mr. Kollmeyer was one of nine children and was 62 years, 9 months and 5 days of age.
He was united in marriage in 1914 to Miss Clara Griffin. To this union one son, Harry W., was born. Mrs. Kollmeyer preceded him in death on April 30, 1939. He was later married to Miss Elizabeth Brockmiller.
He is survived by his wife, son, Harry W.; grandson, Michael; daughter-in-law; four sisters, Tillie (Mrs. Henry) Rickas, Mayme (Mrs. B. L.) Griffin, Alma (Mr. Jesse) Simms and Anna (Mrs. Chesley) Yeargain; three brothers, Fred, Frank and Raymond, all of Farmington. One sister, Katie (Mrs. Adam) Meyer preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. H. Halter, pastor of the Flat River Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Lutheran Cemetery with Miller's Service.

Fred John Kollmeyer, 88, of Farmington died Oct. 11 (1984) at Farmington Community Hospital. He was born Jan. 6, 1896 near Farmington to the late John J. and Elizabeth Best Kollmeyer. He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Mr. Kollmeyer and his wife celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary May 4, 1984. He was president for more than 20 years of the St. Francois County Fair Bureau and past president of the Sanitary Milk Producers Association. Mr. Kollmeyer was recognized for being a dairy farmer for more than 65 years in the association and served on the board of Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company. He was on the board of directors for the Extension Council, and was a member and past elder of St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mytie Lee Griffin Kollmeyer of Farmington; one son, Eugene Kollmeyer of Farmington; one sister, Mayme (Mrs. Barney) Griffin of Farmington; one brother, Raymond Kollmeyer of Farmington; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call 5 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home. Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Merlen Wegener officiating, assisted by Vicar Dennis Luccro. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.

Frank Christopher Kollmeyer, 86, of Farmington died at his home Sept. 19 (1984). He was born July 6, 1869 in Farmington to the late John J. and Elizabeth Best Kollmeyer. He was preceded in death by one son, Melvin Kollmeyer; four sisters and one brother.
Mr. Kollmeyer was president for many years of the Federal Land Bank Association, a charter member of the Lutheran Men's Club and he served 12 years on the board of directors of the Federal Land Bank. He was a member of the St. Francois County Fair Board for 50 years, a school board member of the Busiek School and St. Paul Lutheran School, and a member of the American Angus Association for 50 years. He was chairman of the local branch of the Farm and Home Administration for three years.
He is survived by his wife, Willa Marie Griffin Kollmeyer of Farmington; one son, Vernon Kollmeyer of Farmington; one sister, Maybe (Mrs. Barney) Griffin of Farmington; two brothers: Raymond Kollmeyer and Fred Kollmeyer, both of Farmington; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two daughter-in-law and Mrs. Marilyn Stolz of Naples, Fla., who was raised in his home.
Friends may call 6 p.m. today at the Miller Funeral Home. Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Merlen Wegener officiating, assisted by Vicar Dennis Lucero. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.

Raymond Peter Carl Kollmeyer, 92 of Farmington died Wednesday, May 17, 1995, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 3, 1902, in Farmington to the late John and Elizabeth Best Kollmeyer. He was a farmer and a lifelong resident of the Farmington area. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church and a charter member of the Men's Club. He was a member of the Farm Bureau.
Survivors include a son, Ray Linn Kollmeyer of Ballwin, two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Marquerite Rion Kollmeyer; three brothers, Fred Kollmeyer, Henry Kollmeyer and Frank Kollmeyer; and five sisters, Katie Meyer, Tillie Rickus, Annie Yeargain, Alma Simms and Mayme Griffin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Saturday) at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Merlin Wegener and Rev. Dino Pacilli officiating. Burial will be at the Lutheran Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Cozean Funeral home in Farmington.

Peter Mell, one of Farmington's best citizens, passed away at his home here at 10:49 o' clock on Wednesday morning, Feb. 10, 1943, aged 84 years, 4 months and 22 days.
Mr. Mell was the son of the late Peter and Sophia (Hoehn) Mell. He was born near Copenhagen, MO., on the 19th day of Oct. 1858. He was first married to Minnie Kollmeyer on the 11th day of May 1882, and they lived happily together for 17 years, 8 months and 8 days. Mrs. Mell passing away on Dec. 3, 1899. To this union were born four sons and three daughters, all of whom survive except Mollie who passed away on Nov. 6, 1914, at the age of 20 years. On Nov. 7, 1901 he was again happily married to Miss Matilda Blancken of Frohna, Perry County in the Frohna Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with four children, three sons and one daughter, all of whom survive. His death is mourned by his wife and children; Henry, John, William, Marvin, Sophia (Mrs, J. Frank) Zimmer of Farmington; Doris (Mrs. Matthew) Gormley of Alton, Ill., and Mrs. Anna Gerish, Daniel, Raphael, and Edgar Mell of Detroit, Mich., also by 22 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Mr. Mell had resided on his farms in the vicinity of Farmington until 1926 when he moved to town. He was a very hard worker and during his lifetime built more than 75 barns and many houses in addition to attending to his farming activities.
His mortal remains will be laid to rest in the Lutheran Cemetery after a short service at 2:00 p.m. at his home at 506 No. Franklin St., and at the Lutheran Church at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13th by his pastor, Rev. E. C. Pardieck. Interment will be with Cozean Service.

Mrs. Wilhemina Marie Kollmeyer, daughter of the late Frederick H. Herbst and Mary Siebecker Herbst, was born October 10, 1880 at Farmington and passed away January 25, 1954 at her home at 602 South Jefferson St., Farmington, being 73 years of age.
In early life she was united in marriage to Charles Kollmeyer who with seven children survive. They are Misses Norma and Emilie at home; Margaret (Mrs. Joseph Varvera) of St. Louis; Lucille (Mrs. John Mellis) of San Francisco, Calif.; Theodore and Clemens of Farmington and Edwin of Cape Girardeau; also four sisters, Mrs. Louise Oehler of Bismarck; Misses Emma and Millie Herbst of Farmington and Mary (Mrs. Geo. Braun) of Whittier, Calif., and two brothers John and Charles Herbst of Farmington, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday at 2:30 at the Lutheran Church by Rev. Wm. Griesse with interment in Lutheran Cemetery, Miller Service.

Thomas Asbury Hopkins was born in Farmington [St. Francois County, Mo.] on May 10, 1874, a son of the late Jeremiah and Margaret Ward Hopkins, and died suddenly of a heart attack at his home in Farmington on April 27, 1949, aged 74 years 5 months 17 days.
He was united in marriage to Minnie Kollmeyer, who survives, with the following children: Irene (Mrs. Fred) Schultz of Baton Rouge, La.; Alberta (Mrs. Roland) Wampler of Farmington; Lynn and Asbury Hopkins of Farmington; Harry Hopkins of Baton Rouge, La.; Glenda (Mrs. Dennis) Litterman of Crystal City, Helen Marie (Mrs. Herbert) McKelvey and Wanda (Mrs. C. E.) Dexter of St. Louis.
He also leaves three brothers: Hugh of San Diego, Calif.; John of Denver, Colo., and Bryan of Landers, Wyo.; and two sisters: Mrs. Pearl Hunt of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. C. C. Rickus of Farmington, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Carleton Memorial Methodist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Theodore Probst. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, with Cozean service.

Jeremiah Hopkins, farmer of Section 16, of St. Francois County, and son of Lewis and Anna Catherine (Domer) Hopkins, was born in Blair County, Penn., in 1850. Jeremiah was the fifth child born to his parents. At the age of eight, he came with his parents to St. Francois County, Mo., and there received a fair education and grew to manhood. May 5, 1872, he married Miss Margaret Ann Ward, daughter of Wiliam and Mary H. (Landrum) Ward. Mrs. Hopkins was born on the farm her husband now owns September 25, 1852, and to her marriage were born ten children; Anna Mary, Thomas A., Michael K., William H., Jeremiah W., Archie Ward (deceased), Lizzie E., Andrew M., George O., and Lettie P. In 1876 Mr. Hopkins purchased seventy-eight acres four miles and a half southeast of Farmington, where he located and where he now resides. In 1887, he erected a good frame dewelling house, and is one of the promising young farmers of the county. He is a Republican in politics, and his first presidential vote was for U. S. Grant in 1872. He and Mrs. Hopkins are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church.

FARMINGTON - Wanda Dexter of Farmington passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at Parkland Health Center, at the age of
83 years. She was born July 7, 1924, in Farmington, the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Minnie (Kollmeyer) Hopkins. She was also
preceded in death by husband, C.E. Dexter, sisters, Irene Schultz and Alberta Wampler, and brothers, Linn, Asbury and Harry Hopkins.
She was a member of Central Methodist Church in Phoenix, AZ, and a member of the White Shrine Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by sisters, Glenda Leitterman of Festus and Helen Marie McKelvey (Herbert) of Farmington. She is also survived by
many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Following cremation, burial will be in Poplar Bluff and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the
Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the American Heart Association.

EARL GEORGE MEYER:
Earl George Meyer of 723 East Park St., Farmington, died July 13, 1975 at Farmington Community Hospital, being 71 years of age. He was born August 18, 1903 in Farmington, a son of the late Adam Meyer and Katheryn (Kollmeyer) Meyer.
Surviving are: his wife, Jeselyne Meyer of Farmington; one daughter, Virigina Lee (Mrs. Richard) Schnider, Huntington Beach, Cal.; two sisters, Mrs. Selma Eaton of Farmington and Mrs. Katheryn Currington of Farmington; three brothers, Clyde Meyer of St. Louis, Floyd Meyer and Charles Meyer, both of Farmington; three grandchildren and 3 great grandsons.
Preceding him in death one son, Carl Meyer.
Services were Tuesday, July 15, 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Holland officiating. Interment was in Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Home in Farmington.

KATHRYN CURRINGTON:
Kathryn Alma Currington, 84, of Farmington, passed away March 3, 2002, at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center. She was born on Jan. 5, 1918, in Farmington, the daughter of the late Adam and Katie (Kollmeyer) Meyer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lindell Currington; by four brothers: Earl, Warren, Albert and Floyd Meyer; by a sister, Selma Eaton.
Before her retirement in 1983, Mrs. Currington worked 28 years for the P.N. Hirsch Co. as a cashier. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a former member of the Women's Club, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Ladies' Aid.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Currington and wife, Joyce of Fenton, and Dennis Currington and wife, Janet of San Diego, CA; by a daughter, Carol Faircloth of Farmington; by two brothers, Charles B. Meyer and wife, Marie of Farmington and Clyde Meyer and wife, Helen of St. Louis; by four grandchildren; by four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visiation 4 p.m. Tuesday [March 5th] at Cozean Funeral Home. Funeral services 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul; Lutheran Church with Pastor Dina Pacilli and Pastor James King officiating. Burial will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or the St. Paul Lutheran Church Hand Bell Choir.
