Personen : Jackson Frances
(Bonne Terre Democrat Register, Bonne Terre, St. Francois County, Missouri - Friday, February 19, 1904)
OBITUARY:
Miss Frances Jackson was born in St. Louis county, May 3, 1834, where she lived with her parents until ten years of age, when she moved with them to St. Francois County, where she lived the rest of her life. She was united in marriage to Jesse Elders at Irondale, Mo., September 18, 1870. They moved to Victoria and lived there about ten years when Mr. Elders died. Two children were born to this union, who still survive their parents, Mrs. Abbie Wigger of Desloge and Miss Mattie who lived at home with her mother. After her husband's death, Mrs. Elders moved on a farm, three miles from Bonne Terre where she lived for 18 years. Here she was converted in her home in 1896. She moved to Doe Run in April 1898, and united with the Methodist Episcopal church December 10, 1900.
Mrs. Elders was a consistent Christian until her death which occurred at Doe Run, February 10, 1904, aged 69 years, 9 months and 7 days. She had been a great sufferer for many years but was patient and uncomplaining through it all, having her trust in Christ, and an unfaltering hope in a glorious future, she bore up bravely under her afflections and faced death without a fear.
Kind friends and relatives were constantly at her bedside to attend to her wants and her daughter, Miss Mattie, only relaxed her efforts when she herself sank upon a sick bed a few days before her mother died. It was so hard to give her mother up.
Mrs. Elders has a number of relatives living in and around Bonne Terre. A brother, Asa Jackson, lived in East Bonne Terre and a sister, Mrs. John Brown, lives in Desloge.
The remains were taken to Desloge where the funeral sermon was preached in the Methodist Church by her pastor, Rev. Edward Koeth, after which they were conveyed to the Murrill cemetery and laid to rest. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved relatives in their great loss. EDW. KOETH.

days, scarcely waiting to reach maturity, chose their partners and marched on
with rapid and joyous steps to the temple of Hymen. The companion of Samuel
Griswold was Susannah, daughter of Christopher Huntington, and the wedding
took place on her 17th birth-day, Dec. 10, 1685.
About the middle of the 18th century, a branch of the Griswold family of
Norwich removed to Sharon, Ct. It consisted of three brothers, Francis,
Daniel, and Adonijah, grandsons of Capt. Samuel Griswold. Capt. Adonijah
Griswold was in the army of the Revolution.
THE GRISWOLD FAMILTY; The First Give Generations in America, Compiled and Edited by Esther Gr iswold French and Robert Lewis French: FRANCIS. According to the records of Salisbury, depo sitions by two sons of George state that the oldest son of their grandfather Edward was alway s reputed to be Francis. Further evidence is given in the deed of gift by Edward when he nam ed his grandchildren by Francis, then his other sons in order of their birth. Since Franci s was married about 1652, he would have been born about 1629. The History of New London by C aulkins identities him erroneously as Francis of Cambridge, Mass.
No record has been found to identify his wife. The claim that she was a daughter of Tho mas Tracy is disproved in GFA II:20 (1935 ed.). She may possibly have been the daughter of S tephen and Tryphosa (Lee) Tracy of Plymouth b. c. 1631 (Boston Transcript 7219).
