Farmington Times, St, Francois County, Missouri - May 4, 1900.
OBITUARY:
M. G. [Milton G.] Poston died at his home in East Bonne Terre, Mo., April 27, 1900.
Mr Poston was born in Jefferson Co., Mo., October 19, 1846. He was married to Miss Mary Mann [or Mahn] Nov. 27, 1873. To their union were born ten children. Four boys and six girls are left to mourn an absent father; three children are gone to the glory world; he leaves one brother, one half-brother, five half-sisters, and many relatives and friends to mourn his death.
The writer was called to visit him on the 22nd(?) inst, but he said "I am too weak to talk much." He always seemed glad to have me visit him, and some time in last August he accompanied me to the old church near his home. This was his last time to attend church. His funeral was preached by the writer on the 29th at the family residence, while a large gathering of sorrowing friends and relatives, ministers, lawyers, and doctors gave marked attention to words selected from John 11:21(?). At the close of the service the order of which he was a member took possession of the remains, taking it to the Bonne Terre cemetery, where they laid him to await the words of Him who said, "I am the resurrection and the life." N. O. FLEMING.
Note: The obituary gives his date of death as April 27, 1900, however, St. Francois county cemetery book gives it as April 26, 1900. According to the cemetery book, his wife, Mary Magdelena was born Nov. 18, 1854 and died Feb. 6, 1902, and was born in Warren Co., OH. The cemetery book also indicates that no stone was seen for her. The children of Milton & Mary included, but are not limited to, Nadine (Poston) Thomas, Arthur Poston, Lulu (Mrs. Iola) Dotson, Mrs. Etta Dawson, and Darwin E. Poston. Cemetery book also indicates that there is an "unknown" child of M. G. Poston buried there at Bonne Terre Cemetery as well as a Claude Poston (husb. of Josie), son of Milton & Mary Poston who was born June 16, 1879 and died Feb. 26, 1908, in St. Louis. If you know names of the other children or name(s) of brother or half-siblings of Milton G., please contact me. Thanks.

From notes of Delores Kitchell Clem, great granddaughter of Fred "Pete" Camden: "From some of my mother's (Ethel Blanche Camden) notes, she states that Pete Camden killed his mining partner Flavious Josephus Jeffress and later killed another man. The daughters (Lida and Flavia) of Pete's mining partner married Pete's sons Otto and Ben. The mine was near Galena, Kansas; the homes of Pete and his partner, Jeffress were near Wyandotte Street Car Line, about 3 or 5 miles out of Galena. My mother is deceased and this is all I know about this."
However, as you can by the notes from the 1900 and 1910 census, Pete's partner Flava Jeffress (spelled "Jefries" in 1900 census) was living in 1900 with his wife, Mattie, children Robert, Flavia, Eliza, Thomas, and Christina--but, in 1910 census Mattie is the head of the family with her children Thomas, Christine, Dixie, and Eliza F. Camden, gd Frances Camden and son-in-law Otto Camden. Since the 1910 census shows Dixie being born in 1905, I would suspect that the killing would have been sometime between 1905 and 1910."
The story of the murder of John Cure in 1923, as told by Frances Camden, granddaughter of Fred Camden: "Fred's neighbor, John Cure allegedly used the "watering hole" located on Fred's property and neglected to shut the gate after his livestock. Apparently, this greatly irritated Fred, since his own cattle then escaped the confines of the field. He repeatedly asked his neighbor to shut the gate, and threatened to shoot him if he didn't. One of the last things John Cure ever did in his life was to leave the gate open, allowing Fred's livestock to escape yet again. Fred Camden fled to Corpus Christi, Texas where he lived for about a year while Nancy remained on the family farm. He did not return to Nancy until after the death of a very determined (or obsessed) lawman who either visited the farm regularly, or spied on Nancy in the hope of capturing Fred. In 1924, Fred's sons went to Texas and brought him back to Wildcat, Missouri where he bought a farm, and lived out the rest of his life in seclusion."
NOTE: Neither of the above "stories" about Fred "Pete" Camden have been proven by written documentation.
Fred "Pete" Camden died on December 25, 1935 of Pneumonia, just four months after his wife Nancy.
