Transcript of marriage record: On 14 February 1763, after three proclamations were made and no objection raised, the following were married: the honorable bachelor Andreas, legitimate son of Johann Gütermann and his wife Elisabetha Niclas of Ingenheim, with Catharina, the legitimate daughter of Jacob Schaid and his wife Catharina of Hergesweiler. The bride was a Calvinist but converted to Catholicism yesterday in a public ceremony in this parish. The wedding was conducted by Pastor Michael Acker. Witnesses were Nicolaus Georg Jacob Niclas and Johann Simon Dalm, who signed below. Recorded by J. Orpheus.
Reference Information: The term "Calvinism" is often used as a synonym for "Reformed Protestantism", and encompasses the whole body of doctrine taught by Reformed churches. In addition to maintaining a Calvinist soteriology, a key feature of this system is an aversion to any form of worship not explicitly instituted in the New Testament.

Personen : Guttermann Richard, Jockers Elisabeth "Elsie"
Below is an excerpt from an article called: "From the Infantryman of a Duke to a Torture in America. A story of the Jockers Family from Waldfischbach." by Richard Fasco...
... (Elisabeth Jockers) She arrived at New York, and continued on to the city of Santa Fe where her brother had already settled. Here she found accommodation and became settled. After some weeks, Elisabeth Jockers became acquainted with a young man who had emigrated exactly like her from the Pfalz, from Bad Dürkheim. They fell in love and soon celebrated their wedding. Several sons and daughters came from the Guttermann marriage. As the children grew up, they heard all about the little village of Waldfischbach. Their mother particularly spoke of the day she longed to return there, but the large family did not really enable this to be possible.
The youngest son had a bit more luck. He managed to travel, before World War 1, to Germany for several weeks. He spent many unforgettable hours there. He returned home with all the greetings from the relatives to his family. Unfortunately, all to soon it was time to return to Europe. This time it was as an American soldier to fight against the Germans in France. After the end of the war, he again made the trip to the west of the Rhine and joyfully was welcomed in Bad Dürkheim, Waldfischbach and Pirmasens. Unfortunately it was again soon time to leave. His mother never did get to see her parents or her homeland again. She died in America and was buried in Santa Fe. After the deaths of their parents, the children did not remain in Santa Fe, but travelled further west, which was still sparsely populated.
The sons acquired a large amount property in near Los Angeles, and they built a large house on it. When it was finished, they invited his sister to come and stay. They were all very pleased with the area and planned to stay there. Amalia Guttermann was a very beautiful girl, was very intelligent and fast became at home in the area. Because of her friendly nature, she acquired many friends. She fell in love with a young American named Burbank who had already come to the notice of prominent officials as a man of unusual intelligence. They married and worked in a prominent position in Los Angeles. He rose in his career very rapidly. This could only happen in America. He was still young when he was sent to the Philippines. He spent many years there in the office of Ambassador and inhabited a palace in Manila with his wife.
In their yearly vacation, they again flew over the Pacific Ocean to their old homeland of Los Angeles. There Mrs. Burbank said she wanted to renew an old acquaintance. She entered a phone box and leafed through the telephone directory. She noticed that there was a recently added Jockers name. Curiousity overcame them and they called the appropriate number. There was much excitement as she could hardly get the words out (she was all choked up). But that soon ended as she found out that the other Jockers was a cousin of theirs. It turned out that he was the son of the missing Friedrich Jockers from New York. While she lived in Manila, he had left that inhospitable city and come to Los Angeles without knowing anything about the other family. Thus after a long time, family ties were reunited. All remaining doubts were cleared away as they remembered their youth when their parents had often spoken of the village Waldfischbach in Germany.
In 1959, Mrs. Burbank visited Germany. Her mother could no longer experience the village, but she could. It was with reverence that she entered the old half timbered house, from where in 1892 a young woman called Elisabeth Jockers began her journey to a strange far away country. How often had her mother told her of the low ceilings, and the room that the other sisters divided up during hard times that had often prevailed there. She felt grateful for the security of family around her. She was unashamedly tearful. Her grandparents were long ago deceased, but she laid some flowers on their graves. She had come to this place in her for her mother. She felt the leaving very badly as she left and went to Pirmasens in order to trace her ancestors. It was to ensure that the history of the Jockers family from Waldfischbach and its different tales did not sink into oblivion."

Personen : Weiss Philipp Daniel, Zenk Margarethe (Senk)
The below information was provided by Eddie L. Weis:
Early in his teenage years Philipp Daniel learned the art of shoe making, a trade that he would pursue all his life. In his older teenage years he, as all German youths were required to, entered the German army for military training. After returning from military service, sometime before April 1827, Philipp began courting a young village girl by the name of Margarethe Zenk.
Margarethe had faced a very difficult life. She came from peasent stock, her father being a common laborer. What really made things difficult for her, and her mother, was the death of her father, Michael Zenk, when she was only eight years old.
In April of 1828 she had a son out of wedlock. She named him Johannes, (John). One year later, April 1829, she married Philipp. Philipp declared before the town magistrate the boy, John, to be his own. Three months before this marriage Margarethe's mother died.
For the next eleven years Philipp and Margarethe quietly started raising a family in Mutterstadt, Pfalz, Bayern, Germany. First Philip (Born 28 Sept. 1830), then Louis (Born 17 Feb. 1832), then Kathrina Elizabeth (Born 2 Jan. 1837), anf finally Anna Barbara (Born 19 April 1840).
In late 1840 the family immigrated to America. Philipp was 38, Margarethe was 37, John 12, Philip 10, Louis 8, Kathrina 3 and Anna was just a newborn baby. The family lived in New York City for one year. In 1841, they moved to Pine County, Cleveland, Ohio. It was in Waverly, Ohio the last of the children was born, a baby girl they named Eva Catherine.
While living in Pike County, Ohio, in 1850, a cholera epidemic broke out. It was taking members of every family. While Margarethe was on her way home from nursing neighbors, she collapsed in the road. The very next day she died. Her body was buried in Waverly, Ohio. Being the first of the family to die in this new country. One year after her death the family (excluding Louis who chose to stay in Waverly, Ohio) journeyed to St. Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois. The area was commonly known as "Little Germany".
As of 1855, the family had moved to the Kansas Territory. This was during the time when the only white people there were army soldiers at Fort Leavenworth, and Indian traders.
The winter of 1855-56 was very cold with temperatures falling day after day below zero. Without adequate housing Philipp fell to the elements and died in December 1855 at the age of 53.
