Personen : Camden Ethel Blanche
The following notes on Ethel Camden are unproven and consists of conjecture. As such, they are included here as a source of interest, mystery and entertainment.
As provided by Delores Clem from a conversation with Frances Camden: "Frances was very close to her grandmother, Nancy Lee Pennington Camden, and heard many stories about her family. She always felt that Albert Kitchell's mother had killed her daughter, Blanche, shortly after the birth of the twins. Nancy had told Frances that old Molly Kitchell had been very mean to Blanche. Blanche had attended Normal Training in Topeka, KS, and was a high school teacher (at Crane, MO?) at the time she met Albert and they got married." Therein, it's believed they are making reference to the Mary/Elizabeth Ellis Kitchell that was the wife of Zack Kitchell--who raised Albert (after the death of his mother).
Deloris Clem was asked if she had ever heard mention of Blanche supposedly having gone to work on a newspaper in Kansas City, Missouri, and then getting married again. She said yes, and she thought it was in advertising on the Kansas City Star, but she died shortly of TB. The Camden family never met or talked to this woman to be sure it was Blanche or not. And, Frances (not her father Otto) believed that Dorothy Tucker of Santa Rosa, California was their long-lost Blanche.
Frances said, she thought from her grandmother Nancy's stories about Albert and Blanche, "That they lived by a river when the twins were born. The night Blanche disappeared, she had gotten up to feed the twins their bottles. Their crying awakened Albert. However, she was gone. A search of the house proved she had taken nothing--except the gown she was wearing. Even the house shoes were under her rocking chair. Her purse, all clothing, etc. were still in the house."
Another note from Delores Clem, which is different from some of the information provided by Frances Camden: "After Albert was awarded a divorce and custody of their twins (Gaither and Gladys) in August 1911, in Wayne County, MO, Blanche disappeared. Neither the Camden or Kitchell family ever heard from her again---unless the Dorothy Ruth Tucker of Santa Rosa, California, that went to Arkansas and visited Alber Pearl, my father, Gaither and Aunt Gladys, was really our missing Blanche. She is now dead and none of the family was ever certain if she really was Blanche or an imposter. She died 11 June 1964 in Santa Rosa (Sonoma County) California, without a will and the State of California showed my father and aunt as her children and heirs. Who knows! That is the only proof I can find; yet, I can't find proof of Blanche's birth, name change, etc. Death Certificate of this Dorothy Ruth Tucker shows she was born 15 January 1897 in VA and her parents were James Blayne b. VA and Nancy Pennington b. MO. Our Blanche would have been born 10 years earlier in Arkansas or Kentucky to Fred Otis "Pete" Camden and Nancy Lee Pennington (both b. MO)."
Addition note: After YEARS OF RESEARCH, what happened to Blanche after she and Albert were divorced, remains a mystery. EXCEPT, a letter she wrote to Albert shortly after their divorce--found in his personal papers at time of his death--is proof that she was not murdered by him (as some family members "whispered").

Many may still remember the friendly bookkeeper who worked so many years at Jennings Lumber Company before retiring in 1959 at age 67.
She always worked hard, was open and kind to everyone, and could tell many tales; such as crossing a stream across a log felled by her father to save an additional five-mile walk to school.
Mrs. Westover was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church of Farmington.
After retirement, she made her home with her youngest brother, Emmett E. Thurman, who preceded her in death, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
In 1985, she joined her son, Harold, and his wife, Sylvia, in Shreveport, La., and enjoyed 2 1/2 years of living with them before a broken hip necessitated her entrance to Heritage Manor South.
Graveside services were held January 6, 1992 in Parkview Cemetery with the Rev. James T. Powell officiating. Arrangements were made under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service in Farmington.
