Obituary - Homer Glen Hillebrand:
A memorial service for Homer Glen Hillebrand, 74, was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Waters Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Hoehn officiated and interment will be in Farber Cemetery at a later date.
Mr. Hillebrand died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1993, at Harry S Truman Veteran's Memorial Hospital, Columbia, following an extended illness.
Born Dec. 7, 1918, in Henry County, he was the youngest of four sons of Henry Sr. and Edna Hudson Hillebrand. He moved with his parents to Farber in 1928. After high school, he went to Idaho where he was married to Doris Emery on July 1, 1940. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving three years in overseas duty while stationed in the Philippines during World War II. Upon returning from military service, he and his wife moved to California where they spent most of their married life with the exception of 14 years in the state of Alaska.
Mr. Hillebrand was a heavy equipment operator most of his life and he operated a bulldozer for construction of the Alaska pipeline, from California to Alaska.
Following the death of his wife in 1989, he returned to Vandalia to make his home.
Surviving are a nephew, Karrol and Grace Hillebrand and family, Vandalia, and a niece, Hazel Hillebrand Burditt and family, Columbia, all of whom cared for him during his lengthy illness.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, and three brothers, Martin, Henry and Herbert Hillebrand.

Born May 2, 1918, in Saline County, he was the son of the late Edward M. Bryan and Mary Stockman Bryan. On March 9, 1943, he married Doris Danuser, who preceded him in death Dec. 2, 1970. He had lived in Saline County his entire life and was a farmer. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
Survivors include six children, Nina Boling, Joy Bailey and Jane Bartlett and husband Charlie, all of rural Marshall, Jean Clouse and husband Larry of Raleigh, N.C., Marty Bryan and wife Janet of Marshall and Pat Bryan of Marshall; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a companion, Wanda Cunningham and family of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Alice Kay Bryan; one son, Roger Bryan; one grandson, Matt Bailey; two brothers, John Bryan and Martin Bryan; and two sisters, Mabel Carter and Marguerite Downs.

He had lived in Malta Bend his entire life and was a retired custodian at Malta Bend High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Word War II and a member of Malta Bend American Legion Post 558.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Anna Lee DeAugustine of Auburn, Wash.; twin sons, Joseph Earl Stockman of Marshall and John Francis Stockman of Malta Bend; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia B. Ricks of Malta Bend and Anna Florence "Doogie" Malter of Malta Bend; and nieces and nephews.

Born Feb. 13, 1931, in Saline County, he was the son of the late Richard Edward Meschede and Lutie Ramey Meschede. He was a graduate of Mercy Academy in Marshall. On May 25, 1957, he married Shirley Jean Chevalier who preceded him in death Nov. 5, 2001. He had lived in Boerne since 1988, moving from Marshall, and retired from International Shoe Co. in Marshall and was a farmer. He was a member of Honey Creek Catholic Church in Texas and was also a member of Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include one son, James Meschede of rural Marshall; one daughter, Sheila Harris of Boerne, Texas; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his aunt who raised him Clara B. (Sis) Meschede, and one brother, Joseph Richard Meschede.

Mrs. Foote was born in Edmond, Okla., and had been a longtime resident of the Tucumcari area. She was a homemaker.

Born May 12, 1926, in Napier, Neb., she was the daughter of the late George and Emma Anderson Peterson. On Jan. 13, 1945, in Reno, Nev., she married John H. Hillebrand, who survives of the home. She was a member of Gilliam United Methodist Church, Gilliam Extension Club, Gilliam PTA and Gilliam Centennial committee. She owned and operated Nita's Decorators in Gilliam for over 30 years.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Johnita "Sue" Trapp and husband Rick of Shawnee, Kan., Barbara Trapp and husband Joe of Gilliam, and Vonnie Page of Marshall; one brother, Don Peterson of Warsaw; six grandchildren, Michelle Crone, Sean Trapp, Nicholas Trapp, Tony Pycke, Andy Pycke and Joey Trapp; and two great-grandsons, Lukus Crone and John Payne.

As provided by Matthew Simonds: I'm the grandson of Joseph Charles Simonds (1902-1983), who was the brother-in-law of Martin Hudson Hillebrand (1904-1991). Martin Hillebrand married his second wife, 18 Nov. 1943, my grandfather's sister, Mary Eunice Simonds, b. in Calhoun, Missouri, 14 March 1906, d. 1950 in Denver, Colorado (buried in Aztec, NM), daughter of Charles Jacob and Lula Alta (Funk) Simonds. They had two children: Homer Hillebrand, b. 26 July 1945, and Hazel Marie Hillebrand, b.7 Dec. 1947. Martin Hillebrand was also the first cousin of Zelpha Marie (Vivion) Simonds, the wife of my grandfather's brother Marion Ashby Simonds (1900-1968). Zelpha Vivion was the daughter of Charles Leonard and Cora Edith (Hudson) Vivion. Cora Hudson was the daughter of Martin David Hudson and the sister of Edna Hudson, Martin Hillebrand's mother.

Obituary - Idele Hillebrand, 89, of Vandalia, died at 6:45 pm Friday, Match 10, 2000, at the Tri-County Care Center:
She was born December 3, 1910 in Middletown, MO to Forrest Seaborn and Georgia Henderson Keithley. When she was only 14 years old, she entered the high school speaking contest, winning the gold medal for the state. Mrs. Hillebrand was a 1929 graduate of Middletown High School.
From childhood, she was an accomplished musician, enjoying the piano,organ, accordion, fiddle, guitar, violin and even the ukulele. Her abilities in playing music lead to an interest in composing songs. In 1945, the Missouri House of Representatives approved her song, "Missouri - The Show-Me State", for the state song, before it lost to the "Missouri Waltz". Later in life, Mrs. Hillebrand began writing poetry as well as children's and Christian storybooks. Her poetry won the attention of the National Library of Poetry and was included in the Library's national anthology, "A Moment in Time". Six of her books have been published, the latest in December, 1999, with two more currently being edited.
Mrs. Hillebrand and her husband, Henry B. Hillebrand, owned and operated the A&S Restaurant for many years here in Vandalia.
She was a member of First Baptist Church for 51 years, teaching in Sunday School and singing in the choir.
She was married to Mr. Hillebrand on November 12, 1932 in Montgomery City, MO. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Vandalia where they resided the remainder of their lives. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1981.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Karrol and Grace Hillebrand; five granddaughters, Beverely Pfeffer, Myrna Maerz, Ivy Mozingo, Vicki Sheperd, and Kathy Basinger; nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; a niece, Hazel Burditt, who was a member of the Hillebrand household, and a nephew, Gerald Keithley.
Proceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Palmer Dean Keithley.
Pallbearers - Kinnaird Baker, Charlie Crow, Tim Lowrance, J.D. Overstreet, Skip Pearson and Cecil Pew.

Mrs. Hillebrand was born Dec. 3, 1910, to Forrest and Georgia Elkins Keithly.
She was married to Henry Hillebrand on Nov. 12, 1932. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Karrol Hillebrand of Vandalia; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Hillebrand owned the A&W root beer stand in Vandalia.
Mrs. Hillebrand was a member of First Baptist Church of Vandalia. She also was a member of the Modern Maturity Senior Citizens Center.
She was an accomplished poet and song writer. She had lived in Vandalia all her married life.
Pallbearers will be Kinnaird Baker, Charles Crow, Tim Lowrence, J.D. Overstreet, Skip Pearson and Cecil Pew.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Bourne, Fowler Ennis, John Foreman, Herman Grafe, Don Hoover, Sam Martin, Wyatt Nolan and Ben Salmon."
