LEAD BELT NEWS, Flat River, St. Francois Co. MO, Fri. May 26, 1933.
Henry Hahn, son of the late Solomon and Polly Hahn, was born in Bollinger County, Missouri, in 1848, and died Thursday, May 18, 1933, at 11:35 p.m. at the home of his son, Henry Hahn, of Knob Lick, at the age of 85 years. On February 18, 1869, he was united in marriage to Katherine Johnson, who died sixteen years ago. They established their home in Bollinger County where they lived several years before coming to St. Francois County. Their union was blessed with nine children, all of whom survive. St. Francois County Record, Friday, Feb. 23, 1917.
MAN MURDERED AT CARD PARTY.
A. R. Talent Shot to Death and Three Wounded at Elvins Saturday Night.
At a card party at the home of Charles Fortner last Saturday night A. R. Talent, a married man with a wife and three children, was shot and instantly killed and three others -- William Golden shot through the wrist and also received scalp wounds caused by coming in contact with a beer bottle; Henry Harris was shot through the abdomen; William Womack shot in the thigh. None of the injured are in a serious condition except Harris who is in the Bonne Terre Hospital.
Talent was shot three times either of which would have produced death, one shot taking effect near the base of the skull, one in the neck just below the ear and one in the left breast.
The fight seems to have started from a remark made by one James Dosing that was resented by Golden when a fist and skull encounter took place and while so engaged Golden was shot supposedly by Talent who, in turn, it appears, was shot by Charles Harris, a brother of Henry, who, it appears from the testimony introduced at the coroner's inquest, was the one who fired the shot that took effect in the body of Henry although aimed at Talent.
Coroner Prather held an inquest Sunday morning over the remains of Talent and a verdict was returned to the effect that he came to his death by a gunshot wound in the hands of Charles Harris. No arrests have been made.

Lead Belt News, Flat River, St. Francois County, Missouri, Friday, Dec. 13, 1929.
WAR VETERAN DIED IN KANSAS CITY HOSPITAL.
Albert Crump, aged 33 years, 3 months and 20 days, died in the U. S. Veterans' Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., at five fifteen o'clock Friday evening, Dec. 6, 1929, from tuberculosis. The body was brought to his home in St. Francois, arriving Sunday on the eleven forty train, and funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. Theo Whitfield, pastor of the Desloge Baptist Church. Interment was in the Bonne Terre Cemetery where a sister and brother were already buried.
Albert Crump was a veteran of the World War, and was gassed in action during the summer of 1918. This occurrence changed the current of his entire life, as he did not enjoy the same health at any time afterwards, and eventually lead to his death. He had been an employee of the St. Louis Smelting & Refining Works of National Lead Company, St. Francois, for the past nine years, and managed to keep active with his work until about five weeks ago, when his physical condition became so bad that it was impossible for him to continue. Members of the local American Legion post, Coleman Frazier No. 39, interested themselves in his behalf, and an effort was made to get him into the Veteran's Hospital at St. Louis. This hospital was found to be over-crowded with tuberculosis patients, and his ex-comrades finally prevailed upon him to enter the Kansas City institution instead. He was taken to Kansas City Nov. 25., and first reports from him were encouraging. However, the disease had progressed too far to yield to treatment, and his condition became serious early last week. His wife was notified and went to his bedside prior to his death.
Albert Crump was a son of John and Susie Crump and was born in Bonne Terre, August 16, 1896. He was reared in Bonne Terre and Desloge, and entered the United States Army during the early months of our participation in the great war. He was assigned to the 110th. Engineers, Thirty Fifth Division, and saw much active service, being engaged in some four of five of the most important battles of the war. He was gassed during the battle of the Argonne. In 1919, following his return from service, he was married to Miss Stella Peppers, and to this union two children were born. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Stella Crump, these two children, Florence and Lester, his mother, two brothers, Marvin and Raymond, of St. Louis, and one half sister, Mrs. Fannie Christopher. He was preceded in death by his father, two sisters and one brother.

Democrat Register, Bonne Terre, St. Francois County, Missouri, Friday, May 8, 1903.
William Bryan of Desloge Killed Near Doe Run Shaft No. 2.
The body of William Bryan was found badly mangled on the M. R. & B. T. tracks near Shaft No. 2 of the Doe Run Lead Company, early Wednesday morning by a brakeman. It is thought by many that Bryan had been stabbed to death and thrown across the rail with a view to misleading the authorities. When Bryan and his partner left the saloon in Elvins, he was being treated by a desperate fellow who has been around for only a short while. This fellow is called "Swipey Blum", but no one knows his true name. It was developed at the investigation held by Prosecuting Attorney Marbury Thursday evening, that Bryan had been seen a short while before the engine ran over him. Several shots were fired in that direction and it is supposed that he was either shot or cut to death. Either could be supposed from the wounds displayed on the body of the dead man. Bryan's companion was also unconscious when found. Marbury is making a thorough investigation and it is thought that "Swipey Blum", who has not been found, will be arrested. This man was quarreling with Bryan at Elvins about ten o'clock.
