Julia Boynton Hillebrand, 85, of Allen, Texas passed away March 17, 2006, in McKinney. She was born December 6, 1920, in Duluth, Minnesota to Bruce and Lillian (Spain) Boynton. Mrs. Hillebrand served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On May 31, 1947, she married Milton Hillebrand of Urich, Missouri. At the age of 70, she retired as church secretary from The Moorings Presbyterian Church in Naples, Florida. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Fecht and husband, Ron of Allen; grandchildren, Christopher Fecht and wife, Caryn of Wylie, Texas, Anne Fecht of Dallas, Texas and Ellen Benzine and husband, Heith of Wylie; great granddaughter, Natalie Fecht of Wylie; brother, Howard L. Boynton of Duluth, Minnesota; nephew, Howard C. Boynton of Naples, Florida; and a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton Hillebrand in 1971; brother, Dr. Bruce Boynton; and sister, Lucy Jane Hill. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at First United Methodist Church in Allen, Texas. Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Thursday, November 7, 2002 - On-the-job experience:
Marshall High School freshman Sarah Dunham, lying in the back of a mini Medical Emergency Response Vehicle (MERV), acts as if she has broken arms, a broken leg and a serious head injury caused by a car accident. Her classmates, (from left) Whitney Cato, Brandy Meschede and Hayley Heinzler, had to strap her down because, as part of the exercise during freshman job shadowing day Wednesday, she was thrashing about. Cato, Meschede and Heinzler, acting as emergency responders, had to stabilize her and protect her from causing further damage. The group of girls shadowed Joe Blodgett, director of Saline County Ambulance District No. 3 Wednesday.

Eric was born in Sweden, but by law he was a Nationalized American Citizen by birth, for his mother became pregnant with him before leaving the USA and having him born during a visit with her family in Sweden.
Eric grew up as the youngest of three children in the family home located at 126 South 1st Ave., Mt. Vernon, New York. He graduated in the class of 1938 from A.B. Davis High School in Mount Vernon, New York. The school year book states Eric was the captain of the gym team, and a member of the camera club.
At 18 years old, Eric purchased an old WWI biplane aircraft. During his first attempt at trying a takeoff most of the push-rods flew out of the engine as he went down the runway. He spent most of that day looking for the push-rods, and by the following morning he managed to get them back into the engine. Nevertheless, he did eventually achieve getting the aircraft off the ground and go flying, and he did this with no prior flying lessons, training, or flight instructor.
During WWII he joined the Navy where he contracted scarlet fever and a trace of acute rheumatic fever. After his recovery he was discharged from the Navy and went to work for Lockheed Aircraft Company in Burbank, California. This was followed by him going to Alaska, and by the end of the war he had started an airline company named, Pearson Alaska Airlines. In conjunction with being the only survivor of a plane crash, he operated the airline until the government under the Civil Aeronautics Board closed down nearly all the small airline companies, including his own.
Eric moved back to Burbank, California where he started an aircraft engine overhaul company that was later moved to Miami, Florida.
When Eric died he was cremated and his ashes were spread over the ocean from the north end of the old seven mile bridge located within the Florida Keys.
The following was written by Eric Charles Pearson, the son of Eric Alfred Pearson:
On February 14, 1956, my father, (Eric Alfred Pearson) was the sole survivor of a plane crash during the middle of winter in northern Quebec, Canada.
My father was in the back of the plane making sure the cargo was securely tied down as they were flying through a snowstorm. At this time, the pilot and flight engineer couldn't see anything outside the cockpit windows, and the plane was loosing some altitude. It was then the plane crashed onto a frozen lake instantly killing both the pilot and flight engineer. The impact was so violent the body of the flight engineer had been thrown through the front cockpit window. As for my father, he sustained some minor bruising and a black eye when he was thrown from the back to the forward section of the airplane.
My father was the only one still alive, and the only structure he had for protection from the Artic winter was the aircraft tail section that had broken off during the crash. Despite the situation, my father managed to use the aircraft cargo and netting to build a barrier wall within the aircraft tail section entrance. Also, he managed to recover and place the body of the flight engineer into a sleeping bag.
My father prayed to be rescued as each day pass into another long Artic night, for it was in the dark of night when the polar bears would periodically show up and attempt to kill and eat him.
It was three and a half days later when my father was rescued, and it was on the last day before the search was going to be discontinued.

Charles Edward Emery, a long-time resident of Montezuma County, Colo., died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999 in Austin, Texas. He was born May 7, 1912 in Council, Idaho. His wife, June Hillebrand Emery, precedes Mr. Emery in death. He is survived by his four children: David E. Emery of Clinton, Mont.; Linda L. Reynolds of Pittsburgh, Penn.; Mary T. Emery of Butte, Mont.; and Daniel L. Emery of Bastrop, Texas; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Ertel Funeral Home in Cortez, Colorado and the final resting place will be the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Mancos. Contact Ertel Funeral Home at 565-3468 for times of viewing and service.
(Source: Charles Emery as told to his children through the years.) Where I grew up we had a hard time with floods. We had a really bad winter in 1925. We could not drive a car or pickup out of there because there was a big hill about 3/4 of a mile long that the old cars could not climb. We would have to back out of it as the cars were fed with gravity flow for the gas. The second vehicle we had, my mother bought and it was a 1935 Dodge and it would not get up the hill, we would have to back it out, also. There was this one guy that used a tire pump to get the gas to the carburetor so they could drive out or back all the way out because the hill was so steep and the gravity feed carbs we had at the time.
My brother had a place at Butte Creek and Wildhorse Creek for several years. Bisbee Creek was called S and Creek. When I was there as a kid. This is where my Uncle Dan Bisbee had his place.
During prohibition, the sheriff needed someone to help find an illegal whiskey still in the hills. He came to me to ask me to help him look for it as I knew those hills better than anyone. I lead him all around except where the still was because it was my still that he was looking for.
I wanted to join the Army, but they wouldn't take me during WWII. I had stubbed my toe on a sagebrush at one time, fell and broke my kneecap and because of that they wouldn't take me. Two of my older brothers were both in the Army but neither of them were sent over seas. One of my brothers was sent out three times on the boat to go but was canceled each time after about seven days at sea, each time they were sent out they would get about 10 miles out to sea and just sit there waiting for their orders, then they would be cancelled and sent back to shore.
I was working for the railroad in 1949. They wanted me to run a track repair crew of about eight men in Wyoming. I went out there to the job and found five breaks on one side, and three breaks on the other side of my territory. It showed that the guy that was there before me hadn't been doing his job. That guy had been there for ten years at the time. We were out in the middle of no where. It was sixty miles to the nearest town either way. The part I had to take care of was a sixty mile strip in the middle with our camp being in the middle. I stayed for three days and the wind was blowing so hard all the time that I quit and headed back to Idaho to my wife, June and small boy, David. I then went to work for the County.
Ruth Oling, wife of Arnold Emery (Claud's son), said that she went to school with Charles Emery and grew up with him. She said that he was her first boyfriend.
