FREAKISH WHIRLWIND BREAKS COLLAR BONE:
A story, unusual enough to be featured in Ripley's Believe It Or Not, happened in our own community last Thursday afternoon when Ed Johnson, who was sitting on a porch swing at his home, was caught in a whirlwind, tossed in the air and violently thrown to the ground, suffering a broken collar bone.
Mrs. Johnson was sitting in the swing with Mr. Johnson at the time and had just left the swing and turned around at the door to say something to Mr. Johnson when she saw the wind lift him into the air. Mr. Johnson, with his arm in a sling, is able to be out in town again but it will be several weeks before he can return to his work.
