The Truth About Hiring A Professional Genealogists. To prove a point, nearly everything on this web site is a fake except for what is within the below message. Now seriously, the genealogy profession is unregulated, and anyone can say they're a professional, accredited, certified and licensed genealogist. More importantly, please don't be fooled by some professional looking web site, or someone that paid a membership fee to a genealogists organization in having their name listed as a professional genealogist. In other words, take the time to educate yourself before hiring anyone to research your family genealogy. At the bare minimum you should read the three part article "Hiring A Professional" written by Michael John Neill.
